The Kentucky BASS Nation visited Lake Cumberland last Saturday for the first qualifier of the 2026 season. We enjoyed beautiful spring weather throughout the event. As is typical, results varied across the field, with some catching many and others finding just a few. And add with that, 3 new members we would like to welcome to our KBN family.
We all start each season hoping to begin a journey just like the recent Bassmaster Classic Champion Dylan Nutt accomplishment just a couple weeks ago. Not just a chance to compete in the Bassmaster Classic BUT winning the Classic straight from the BASS Nation side of things. Dylan took control of his destiny by winning the Pickwick Lake Bass Southern Regional in March of 2025. Unfortunately, I (along with several other KBN participants) happened to be one of his victims. LOL But what an inspiration to our membership. Dreams can happen at any time when we set our sights high and work hard to achieve!
For the KBN Saturday, those dreams began. First place on the boater side went to one of our very talented fishermen, Nick Ratliff with 16.79 lbs paying $862.50who barely escaped second place finisher Mitchell Major who had 16.25 lbs worth $603.75. On the co-anglers side just like the boater side it was a dog fight for the win. Christian Peters outdueled Jason Brown with the win totaling 11.99 lbs taking home $562.50. Jason finished with 10.56 lbs winning $393.75.
Third place on boater side was newcomer Tyler Strunk totaling a weight of 13.63, winning $285.75 and co-angler third place finish goes to Nolan Bunnell with 8.43 lbs taking home $168.75. BF boater side was Mitchel Major 3.90/$150 and BF of the tournament went to Christian Peters at 4.59/$150.
The next KBN qualifier will be at Green River Lake on April 18th. How about your dreams? Are you ready to compete for the chance to be world champion of bass fishing? Come join the KBN! The place where the dream begins.
